About me

Hi, my name is Helen Hicks,  based in Powys, Pethau Bach was established in  September 2004. 
I previously worked as a research technician in a laboratory. 
I have been doing crafts for as long as I can remember, and I like to try new things continuously. 

My main passion is making children’s dressing up outfits.  It enables me to indulge my obsession with different fabrics.  I particularly enjoy trying to use up oddments of fabric and recycling bits & pieces as well. I can also make outfits to order for both adults and children - contact me with your idea.

I also make soaps & solid shampoos.  I had been doing this as a hobby for some time before I started up my business. I have 5 solid shampoo recipes and 7 soap recipes, which have all been safety tested in accordance with regulations.  

I am also part of a cooperative group of Artists & Craftspeople who have got together to open a shop in Machynlleth. Dyfi Arts Guild, Y Plas, Machynlleth, Powys. We are open 6 days a week, manned on a rotational basis by members. There are currently a few spaces left for people who may want to exhibit – the only criterion for membership is that they live within about 30miles of Machynlleth. 
Shop opening hours 10 – 5 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday & 11 – 5 on Sunday. There is work on display from 35+ artists & craftspeople.
